Pete Buttigieg, Norfolk Southern skip East Palestine townhall
Residents of East Palestine filled the gymnasium in hopes of gathering information about the derailment and how it'll affect their families. Norfolk Southern didn't attend the townhall meeting but it issued a statement, saying it "was not attending Wednesday's open house gathering with local, state and federal officials because of a 'growing physical threat to our employees and members of the community around this event.'"
Dissatisfied residents expressed their discontent by calling the statement a "copout." Kathy Dyke, a resident of East Palestine, accused the railroad, saying "They’re not out here supporting, they’re not out here answering questions. For three days we didn’t even know what was on the train."
According to the article, "Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost advised Norfolk Southern on Wednesday that his office is considering legal action against the rail operator."
Buttigieg has the title of Transportation Secretary but isn't interested in doing the job. He's been MIA for numerous transportation crises, starting with the baby formula shortage, the supply chain crisis and the railroad workers' strike. Time after time, he hasn't been there. In this instance, Buttigieg waited 10 days before expressing concern:
Of course, Buttigieg isn't answering questions: The Biden administration is filled with talkers. This isn't a team of doers or accomplishers. That's why I nicknamed this cabinet the 'Never-will-be-ready-for-primetime-players.'I continue to be concerned about the impacts of the Feb 3 train derailment near East Palestine, OH, and the effects on families in the ten days since their lives were upended through no fault of their own. It’s important that families have access to useful & accurate information:

As usual, Joe Concha nails it:
This is shaping up to be a change election. It's also shaping up to be a competency election. These days, it's difficult to find competent people of integrity to work in government. This cabinet certainly isn't competent. The Transportation Secretary appears to be tweeting his way through the East Palestine disaster ten days late instead of, you know... going there. https://t.co/szSFwTJI5Y
