Media blows their questioning of Pete Buttigieg in East Palestine
Rebecca Brannon, an independent photojournalist who usually covers Minnesota politics, protests, riots and crime, highlighted the fact that Buttigieg's press secretary was willing to answer questions -- if the journalists turned off their cameras. It didn't take long for the alt-media to reject that option, as it should have been rejected.
The Buttigieg trip was strictly a photo-op. The Biden administration wanted to show that they'd visited. If they want video evidence of visiting, they should be willing to take questions with the cameras rolling.
An unidentified female journalist asked Secretary Buttigieg's press secretary why it took Buttigieg so long to make a statement about the train derailment in East Palestine, OH. That's a legitimate question. Still, I would've loved to have seen reporters ask her what steps the U.S. DOT is taking to make rail cars that carry toxic chemicals more difficult to damage.
Other questions worth asking:
- Is the administration willing to make these people whole? These people's homes are often a major part of their life's savings.
- The administration insists that the water isn't toxic. Will the federal government agree to reimburse these people if the water isn't clean?
- What proof does Secretary Buttigieg have that Trump's deregulation of the railroad industry led to this derailment?
Finally, this is infuriating:
First, KJP read from her binder. Next, KJP read a bunch of gibberish that filled with lies. Biden didn't show leadership. He was nowhere to be found. He didn't even mention East Palestine in his SOTU Address. When the EPA showed up, they insisted that everything was fine. That myth was shot to hell with this video: Lying to the people passes for leadership with this administration?
