Adam Schiff, Sheldon Whitehouse to Facebook: Censor Republicans or else
Adam Schiff calling out misinformation is like an arsonist complaining about fire departments. Schiff is one of the biggest practitioners of spreading misinformation in history. This weekend, Schiff signed onto a letter with Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse to Facebook saying "After each election cycle, social media platforms like Meta often alter or roll back certain misinformation policies, because they are temporary and specific to the election season. Doing so in this current environment, in which election disinformation continuously erodes trust in the integrity of the voting process, would be a tragic mistake. Meta must commit to strong election misinformation policies year-round, as we are still witnessing falsehoods about voting and the prior elections spreading on your platform."
That's rich. Why would the American people trust Schiff, the man that told us for years that he'd seen classified information that was more than circumstantial evidence that Trump had colluded with Russians to win the 2016 election. Let's recall what Adam Schiff told NBC's Chuck Todd:
Schiff said that he'd seen evidence that "was more than circumstantial." What documents, emails or texts had Schiff seen that are direct evidence? Robert Mueller didn't put anything in his infamous report. Then-AG William Barr quoted from the Report. Here's what it quoted Mueller as saying:"(T)he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities."Mueller concluded that Russia interfered with the election. What it didn't say is that Trump did anything that Democrats accused Trump of doing.
Schiff and Whitehouse wrote this in their letter to Facebook:
Meta has previously taken concrete actions to fight falsehoods and misinformation regarding elections, such as Facebook’s adding labels on election-related posts promoting reliable information in 2020 and 2021, which was an important step in countering the proliferation of election misinformation on the platform. We also supported Meta’s decision to suspend the Facebook account of former president Trump for, "maintaining an unfounded narrative of electoral fraud and persistent calls to action" therefore creating "an environment where a serious risk of violence was possible" according to the Facebook Oversight Board. That risk persists, and certainly has not diminished since the former president’s removal. While Democrats haven't stopped accusing Trump of continually talking about 2020, Democrats haven't said a peep about Hillary Clinton calling Trump an illegitimate president and Stacey Abrams whining about how Brian Kemp suppressed the vote, causing her to lose her in Georgia. Apparently, misinformation only travels in one direction, according to Democrats.
It's time for Schiff to shut up. He's a liar through-and-through.
