Juan Williams' constitutional indifference

The All-Star Panel for Friday's Special Report highlighted the Democrats' constitutional stupidity. To open that part of the segment, Gillian Turner played the clip of Joe Biden claiming that there is "no socially redeeming value" for owning a semi-automatic firearm. Juan Williams then highlighted his lack of understanding of the Constitution.

Williams said "I mean, the argument is the Second Amendment. You know, do you think that the founders really had in mind people having weapons that are best intended for a battlefield, you know, in the hands of private people? I mean, that’s the argument. The American people agree with President Biden on this one."

It's breathtakingly stupid to ask whether the founders wanted "people having weapons that are best intended for a battlefield." The Founding Fathers intended for a "well-armed militia" to prevent tyrannical governments from usurping individuals' rights. They'd just finished fighting a Revolutionary War to free themselves from a tyrant's dictates. Why would they leave themselves vulnerable to another tyrant's dictates? This is the text of the Second Amendment:

A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
The keys to the Second Amendment are "the right of the people" and "being necessary to the security of a free state." The Second Amendment wasn't written to guarantee the right to go hunting, as liberals so often pretended. It was implemented to protect a free people.

Here's a refresher on what Joe Biden said on Thanksgiving:

"The idea we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick. Just sick. It has no socially redeeming value. Zero. None. Not a single solitary rationale for it except profit for the gun manufacturers."
Colion Noir puts things into perspective in this video:

Joe Biden apparently doesn't care about the Constitution. That's bad enough but it's getting worse. It's apparently spread to Juan Williams.

  1. Considering the British and American forces were armed with smoothbore muskets, many of the Militiamen were better armed with more accurate rifles. So the people at large were better armed than their military counterparts.
