MPPOA endorses Scott Jensen
Thanks to the DFL's 'Defund the Police' campaign, the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, aka MPPOA, has endorsed Dr. Scott Jensen for governor instead of endorsing DFL Gov. Tim Walz.
DFL Gov. Tim Walz lost the MPPOA endorsement, at least in part, because Walz wouldn't defend the Third Precinct Police Building during the George Floyd Riots. It didn't help that Gov. Walz didn't dispatch the National Guard until the third night of the riots.
The article opens, saying "Minnesota’s largest police association announced its endorsement of Republican gubernatorial candidate Dr. Scott Jensen Thursday morning. The announcement was made in front of the Minneapolis Police Department’s Third Precinct building, which was destroyed in the 2020 George Floyd riots."
This is the video of the endorsement announcement: These are harsh, though well-deserved, words:"When our cops most needed support, it wasn’t there," Jensen said, reflecting on the riots. The Walz campaign issued this statement:The MPPOA represents more than 10,000 rank-and-file police officers throughout the state.
"Look where we’re at. Over my shoulder used to be a police department. It’s no longer there," said Executive Director Brian Peters. "Gov. Walz has been missing in action during his term. We need leadership that is going to support law enforcement and not show up when it’s convenient or it’s an election cycle."
Governor Walz has proposed hundreds of millions of dollars to fund local police departments and help them hire more officers, and he’ll keep fighting to deliver more funding, training, and resources in his second term.Tim Walz's empty words mean nothing. When the MPD needed Walz's help, Walz wasn't there. That's indisputable. This video says it all:
