Scott Jensen sets fundraising record

GOP gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen has eclipsed Tim Pawlenty's fundraising record, according to this statement. The statement, issued by the Jensen-Birk campaign, opens by saying "The Dr. Scott Jensen (R-Chaska) for Governor Campaign announced it has raised $4.2 million total, a new record for Republican gubernatorial candidates in Minnesota. This surpasses the previous record set by Governor Tim Pawlenty. The campaign has been largely fueled through small dollar donations with over 35,000 unique donors."

It continues, saying "Minnesota families are fed up with crushing inflation, rampant crime, and failing student achievement under Tim Walz's watch," said Dr. Jensen, a Minnesota Family Doctor of the Year. "Everyday Minnesotans clearly want a change in leadership in our state, and they’re not only propelling us to record breaking numbers, but victory this fall. On November 8th, we’re going to Heal Minnesota."

Coupled with the Feeding Our Future scandal, the Jensen campaign will have the financial ammunition to highlight the Walz administration's corruption and deceitfulness. This race was already rated a toss-up by RealClearPolitics. Today's news won't do anything to change that status. This is what Gov. Walz is attempting to cover-up:

Tim Walz was already in trouble on the issue of crime on the Minneapolis streets. Now he's on the wrong end of the Feeding Our Futures scandal. That's all on him.

With Walz embroiled in this controversy, it isn't a stretch to think that the RGA might start putting money into this race. This race is winnable for Dr. Jensen. Further, there aren't that many races where the RGA should be involved in. Sununu, Kemp and DeWine are cruising. Lombardo (NV) and Lake (AZ) likely could use help. Then again, Nevada isn't an expensive media market. Finally, it'd be sweet to pick off Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconin.

Gov. Walz should be worried. He's acting worried by refusing to debate Dr. Jensen on statewide TV. That isn't what confident candidates do. Further, Walz won't debate Dr. Jensen until early voting is well under way. That's what a candidate who's running scared does. Tim Walz has lots to be afraid of.

The issues are aligning on Dr. Jensen's side. Violence is hurting the Walz brand. It's time to take that shot. If the stars align right, we might take out both Walz and Ellison. That won't happen without a big GOP turnout but it's something worth shooting for. Like hockey great Wayne Gretzky used to say "I never scored a goal on a shot I didn't take." It's time to take that shot.
