Mandela Barnes, Wisconsin socialist

Today's Democrats aren't capitalists like JFK or Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Today's Democrats are Bernie Sanders-AOC socialists. This election cycle, Democrats fitting into the Sanders-AOC description are getting more plentiful. John Fetterman is definitely a socialist.

The more I read about Mandela Barnes, the more I realize that he's a socialist, too. Barnes isn't bashful about being an anti-capitalist Democrat. When Barnes attended the UN Climate Change Conference COP25 in 2019, Barnes said "The reason why we're in this mess is we pursued greed, this is capitalism run amok that's why we're in this predicament now. So the simple answer is get money out politics. Second answer is stymie capitalism the way it is in our nation, in America. And the third is to organize. You know, people in communities got to show up stand up. That's the only way we're ever going to see or make a difference."

This is the video of Barnes at COP25:

Barnes is running against Ron Johnson. Johnson is the incumbent in this race. Sen. Johnson said this about Barnes:
"This is the kind of anti-American, socialist talk that gets turned into the kind of horrible liberal policies that are crushing Wisconsin families every day. Mandela Barnes would make us less prosperous, less safe and less free, all because he's dead set on fundamentally transforming a country whose founding he thinks was awful."
This race just shifted in Sen. Johnson's favor:
The U.S. Senate race between Democratic Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes and incumbent GOP Sen. Ron Johnson has tightened significantly leading up to the Nov. 8 election, according to the latest Marquette Law School Poll released Wednesday. The poll found 49% of likely voters supporting Johnson, R-Oshkosh, while 48% supported Barnes — a considerable shift from Barnes’ 7-point lead over Johnson in August. The September poll also found a tightening in the race for governor, with Democratic Gov. Tony Evers maintaining his narrow lead with support from 47% of respondents, compared with 44% for Republican Tim Michels, the millionaire co-owner of Brownsville-based construction company Michels Corp.
Marquette's poll is the gold standard in Wisconsin, just like the Des Moines Register poll is the gold standard in Iowa. It's worth noting that this is the first Marquette Poll that's using a likely voter screen.

It's important for Sen. Johnson to a) run like he's 1-point ahead with 54 days to go, b) highlight Barnes' anti-capitalist, soft-on-crime policies and c) highlight the things he's done to make Wisconsin's life better.
