The truth behind the Democrats' SCOTUS legitimacy argument

Since the Supreme Court's Friday ruling that overturned the Roe and Casey precedents, Democrats have started a chant that insists that the Supreme Court has lost its legitimacy. In that context, it isn't surprising that this article continues that chanting point.

The article opens by saying "When the US Supreme Court this week radically expanded the Second Amendment and declared most any restrictions on guns to be presumptively unconstitutional, then overturned five decades of reproductive rights and created a likely desert for abortion access all the way from Idaho to Florida, America’s grim new reality became painfully clear."

First, when the Supreme Court overturned New York's anti-gun law, it didn't "radically" expand the Second Amendment. It said that New York's gun law was so unreasonable that it made it virtually impossible to protect one's self or their family. To get a concealed-carry permit, a person had to prove that they were being stalked. That isn't a restriction like felons not being able to own a gun or people with mental health challenges not being able to buy a gun.

Those are restrictions that pretty much everyone agrees with. Telling people that they qualify for a concealed-carry permit simply by going through the proper training and not being a felon is a reasonable standard. That isn't expanding the Second Amendment.

Watch AOC make some foolish statements:

The Supreme Court didn't lose its credibility. Democrats are simply whining because Roe and Casey were overturned and, more importantly, Democrats can't rely on the Supreme Court to invent rights anymore. Boo-hoo. Though Democrats won't admit it, it frightens them that they'll have to persuade people to get their agenda passed.

That's why Democrats created Cancel Culture. They wanted to intimidate corporations into doing what they wanted. Unfortunately for Democrats, they're losing that fight, too. People are fighting that, too.

It doesn’t have to be this way. The US constitution offers no guidance on the number of supreme court justices. While it has stood at nine for some time, it has not always, and need not for ever. If Republicans have hijacked the court to force a minoritarian agenda on the nation, the court must be expanded and reformed to counter a rightwing power play that threatens to remake American democracy and life itself.
First, democracy is just a euphemism for 'mob rule'. Democrats throw that phrase around pretty lightly. It's used to convey the message that they lost another fight. Democrats used to love debating. They hate hearing other opinions now. They've even eaten some of their own because these activists haven't totally agreed with their far-left vision. Moderate Democrats are often characterized as "Republican Lite." Truly moderate Democrats aren't Republican Lite. Theye simply have some common sense.

The AOC-Elizabeth Warren Democrats are the nuts. They just didn't read the room well.
