Mike Wirth, Chevron CEO vs. Joe Biden

It's ancient history that Joe Biden thinks of himself as the smartest guy in the room. It's apparent he thinks that he thinks that his quips are effective, too. Recently, Mike Wirth, the Chevron CEO, wrote a letter replying to Biden's letter to oil companies CEOs. This afternoon, Biden called Wirth "sensitive" after Wirth told Biden that Biden should work with the oil industry instead of playing political stunts aimed at scoring political points with the Green New Deal wing of the Democrat Party.

First, Biden said "He’s mildly sensitive. I didn’t know they’d get their feelings hurt that quickly. Look, we need more refining capacity. This idea that they don’t have oil to drill and to bring up is simply not true."

That statement makes Biden sound like a punk on a schoolyard who isn't quite cool enough to score points substantively. The question isn't whether they have oil to drill. The question is whether Biden will cripple the oil industry with more counterproductive regulations on top of an already oppressive set of energy regulations. Here's Wirth's triggering statement:

"The U.S. energy sector needs cooperation and support from your Administration for our country to return to a path toward greater energy security, economic prosperity, and environmental protection."
Biden must think that the CEOs of these oil companies will just do whatever he tells them to do no matter how stupid Biden's suggestion is. This suggestion gets an A+ for stupidity. Biden is essentially telling the oil companies to invest billions of dollars in refining facilities that he'll shut down the minute he's re-elected. He gets re-elected. They file for bankruptcy. This is Biden applying his best con job:

Again, Biden talks about the 9,000 leases. That's utterly irrelevant to oil production. You start with leases. Once you locate a field, you have to apply for a permit to extract that product. Permits are also required to build pipelines from the field to the refinery. Think you've finally gotten government out of the way? Nope. You need permits to build additional refineries. That's because current refineries are running at 94% of capacity.

Joe Biden shouldn't wage a jihad against the fossil fuel industry for a multitude of reasons. Starting with self-inflicted inflation, Biden's jihad has left families poorer and the nation weaker on the international stage. Biden crawling to the Saudis isn't a look of strength. This tweet says everything:

The American people have spoken. Yes, they want EVs to be part of the future but they demand higher fossil fuel production now. The American people just want their bills to go down. Right now, that means energy independence and fossil fuel dominance. It's that simple.
