Jimmy Kimmel interviews Joe Biden

Joe Biden's first visit to Jimmy Kimmel's show worked out perfectly for both men. Most importantly, Joe Biden didn't have to answer any difficult follow-up questions. Almost as important, Jimmy Kimmel got to come off as semi-serious. Throw in the fact that Kimmel got to get a little misty-eyed and it was a near-perfect night.

Biden accused President Trump of abusing the Constitution, then accused Republicans of being "a MAGA Party." For good measure, he said that today's Republican Party "is not your father's Republican Party" while throwing in the accusation that the NRA intimidates Republicans into voting against gun legislation.

Biden said that he's talked to Republicans "behind the scenes" who've hinted that they'd vote for gun control legislation if they could vote with a secret ballot. That's rich considering the fact that he hasn't talked with Republicans since months before signing the bipartisan infrastructure bill last year.

The visit was perfect, too, in that Biden got to tell whoppers like the dramatic effect the assault weapons ban supposedly had on lowering crime. The ban was signed in 1994, a year after Rudy Giuliani took over as mayor of New York City.

Giuliani took that crime-infested city and turned NYC into the safest big city in the United States. Mayor Giuliani's dramatic clean-up of NYC played a significantly bigger role in crime dropping than passing the Assault Weapons Ban.

Joe didn't have to worry about getting questioned about that, though, because Kimmel isn't a legitimate journalist asking serious questions. Further, Kimmel was too busy worshiping Biden. It should be noted that, in a single interview, Biden pretty much crippled the bipartisan talks on school shootings and school safety. Then there's this:
He went on to accuse Trump of abusing the Constitution, saying he doesn't want to "emulate" his predecessor. "But what I don’t want to do, and I’m not being facetious, I don’t want to emulate Trump’s abuse of the Constitution and constitutional authority," Biden said.

The president then accused Republicans of placing democracy in jeopardy. "I often get asked, 'the Republican's don't play it square, why do you play it square?'" Biden said. "If we do the same thing they do, our democracy would literally be in jeopardy. That's not a joke!"

Notice that Kimmel accepted this as gospel fact. That's good for Biden because he isn't capable of responding to challenges. Another thing that Biden isn't capable of handling is inflation. Kimmel asked one question about inflation/the economy. Here's what Biden said:
Here's where we are. We have the fastest growing economy in the world. We have 8.6 million new jobs since I got into office. Unemployment rate's down to 3.6%. We reduced the deficit last year by $320 billion. This year we're gonna reduce it by $1.7 trillion."
What a bunch of BS! In Q1 of 2022, the economy shrunk by 1.5%. The Atlanta Fed, which does the economic forecasting for the Fed, started Q2 by forecasting growth of 1.9%. Later, it revised it downward to 1.3%. Last week, the Fed revised downward again to 0.9%. That doesn't represent the "fastest growing economy in the world." That's coming close to a recession.

Kimmel might've done Biden a favor but he didn't do the nation a favor. Kimmel wasn't successful in rehabilitating Biden, mostly because Biden is hopeless at this point.
