Unite Cloud's vendetta continues
The justification for the haters at Unite Cloud to oppose former Councilman Johnson's hiring as "Dean of Trades and Industry" is stated in Unite Cloud's statement. According to Unite Cloud, "Having a Dean who has negative attitudes toward refugees will inhibit the diverse student body at SCTCC from feeling safe and welcomed at their school, as this position’s requirements include to 'oversee the instructional needs of students' and to ;represent the college on designated planning committees such as program advisory, Higher Learning Commission, curriculum, policy, institutional effectiveness and assessment.'"
In their statement, Unite Cloud cited this:
- Jeff Johnson, who represents St. Cloud’s Fourth Ward, submitted a draft resolution this week calling for a moratorium on refugee resettlement in St. Cloud.
- The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations also launched a petition Tuesday urging the St. Cloud City Council to vote no on the moratorium, which the organization called a "despicable, racist, Islamophobic, and ill-informed motion targeting refugees."
- "I believe a moratorium violates the U.S. Constitution, particularly the equal protection clause," (Mayor) Kleis said, referring to the 14th Amendment. ‘We strive very hard to be a welcoming community. We work very hard to encourage people to come to the community. We should be focusing our efforts on making sure everyone succeeds.
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;I wrote this post in Oct., 2017. Here's the most important part of that post:To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;
To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;
To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;
To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;
Councilman Jeff Johnson's resolution, which wasn't officially introduced tonight, highlighted that " WHEREAS, the Refugee Act of 1980 states in 8 U.S.C. 1522(2)(A): 'The Director and the Federal agency administering subsection (b)(1), shall consult regularly (not less often than quarterly) with State and local governments and private nonprofit voluntary agencies concerning the sponsorship process and the intended distribution of refugees among the States and localities before their placement in those States and localities."When then-Councilman Johnson called for the moratorium, cities weren't being allowed into these quarterly meetings. It's worth noting that the Refugee Act of 1980 is federal law. Therefore, Unite Cloud is upset with Jeff Johnson because he wouldn't break 8 U.S.C. 1522(2)(A). All that Jeff Johnson wanted to do was to listen to the quarterly meetings required by federal law.
Unite Cloud is one of the most divisive organizations in Minnesota. They're the personification of Cancel Culture. Even though Jeff Johnson is overqualified for this Dean's job, Unite Cloud wants him blacklisted from consideration for the job. Watch this video, then determine for yourself whether Jeff Johnson is a) asking legitimate questions or b) a divisive person:
In full disclosure, Jeff's been my friend since 2005. I won't pretend to be unbiased. In this instance, there's no need to be. The facts speak for themselves. Jeff's argument is persuasive.If SCTCC hires Jeff Johnson, they'll get someone who is more than qualified. If SCTCC listens to Unite Cloud, they will have listened to a divisive organization that isn't looking out for SCTCC's best interests.
