Kurt Daudt's end-of-session statement

Kurt Daudt didn't mince words in summarizing this session. In this statement, Daudt accused the DFL House majority of putting a higher priority on the state budget than they put on families' budgets. That's inexcusable.

Specifically, Daudt wrote "House Democrats failed Minnesotans this session by failing to address our public safety crisis, and doing nothing to put money back in the pockets of families who are struggling with record inflation and skyrocketing gas prices in the Biden-Walz economy."

Republicans wanted to drop the marginal tax rate for the bottom bracket from 5.35% to 2.8%. The DFL wouldn't budge from their proposal of dropping that tax rate to 5.10%. That isn't a tax cut. That's an insult to Minnesota's families.

Republicans should emphatically emphasize the fact that the DFL put a higher priority on the government's budget than it put on families' budgets. Minnesota's highest priority is with their families' budget. Minnesotans' next-highest priority is on keeping their families safe. The DFL, especially Gov. Walz, failed miserably in keeping families safe.

When the George Floyd Riots ripped through Minneapolis, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey asked Gov. Walz to deploy the National Guard. Gov. Walz refused, saying that Frey hadn't requested them properly. How stupid is that? Worry first about protecting the people, then worry about filling out the paperwork.

Daudt's statement continues:

When Republicans return next year in the majority we will deliver record tax cuts — without holding it hostage for new government spending like Democrats did all session long. We will prioritize public safety, hold criminals accountable, and invest in our law enforcement.

Minnesotans deserved better than the politics and cynical games that House Democrats played this year — Republicans will focus on the top issues that Minnesota families care about, and pass bills that will make their communities safer and their lives more affordable.

The DFL, including Gov. Walz, is on the wrong side of the most important issues to Minnesotans. The DFL hasn't done a thing to make Minnesota families safer, either. In summarizing, the DFL didn't provide financial relief to families who are living paycheck-to-paycheck. Further, the DFL didn't make families safer. That's the definition of failure.
