Ben Sasse obliterates Chris Murphy

This week, Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy attempted to shame a group of Republican senators for voting against the omnibus spending bill that funds the government for the rest of this year. Murphy did his best to virtue-shame these GOP senators. Murphy's bad fortune is that Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse stood up to him.

Contained in the omnibus spending bill was funding for Ukraine. Rather than put Ukraine funding in a clean bill, Democrats put the funding in with their Christmas wish list spending bill, which they knew was loaded with poison pills for Republicans.

Sasse was one of the Republicans who voted against the omnibus spending bill after saying that Joe Biden had taken his time in supplying Ukraine with lethal military aid. Rather than put up with Sen. Murphy's grandstanding, Sen. Sasse chose to question Murphy on the Senate floor:

This is the original tweet that touched off the firestorm:

Chris Murphy is a jerk. Sen. Sasse should be applauded for exposing him as a egomaniac trying to score partisan points on Twitter. The other thing that Sen. Sasse should be applauded for is exposing the Democrats' technique of stuffing must-pass legislation full of ideological poison pills. These poison pills are frequently payoffs to the Democrats' special interest allies.

It's time to flip the Senate from D to R. Rs have their imperfections but a high percentage of Democrats put America last. (More on that in another post.)
