In major reversal, Germany will supply missiles to Ukraine

In a major reversal in military policy history, Germany has agreed to send 1,000 Javelin anti-tank missiles and 500 Stinger missiles to Ukraine:
Germany's chancellery announced Saturday evening that it will send 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 "Stinger" surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine "as quickly as possible."

"The Russian invasion of Ukraine marks a turning point. It threatens our entire post-war order," German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in a statement. "In this situation, it is our duty to help Ukraine, to the best of our ability, to defend itself against Vladimir Putin’s invading army."

This is a major shift in Germany's Ukraine policy. Most importantly, it's supplying Ukraine with what they've asked for. When President Zelenskyy rejected the U.S. invitation to get him and his family out of Ukraine, President Zelenskyy replied "The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride." Now that it's clear that Ukrainian forces are effectively fighting off the Russian military, Germany is sending lethal military support.

To be fair, few experts thought that Ukrainians would fight this well. This is what a Churchill moment sounds like:

"I am staying in the government quarters together with others," Zelensky said in a video address early on Friday. "The enemy has designated me as target number one, and my family as target number two."
This is another way to cripple Putin's war effort:

Crippling Putin's finances for warmaking is a way to turn a despot into a weakened despot. Further, let's dispose with the notion that Russia is a superpower. They aren't. They have nuclear weapons but they have a third-rate military. According to Jennifer Griffin, the Pentagon thinks that Russian troops are limited in their night-fighting ability. That isn't proof of being a superpower.

Other help is on its way: Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk said late on Saturday that SpaceX’s Starlink satellite broadband service was now available in Ukraine with more terminals en route to the country.

Musk made the remark on social media in response to a tweet from Mykhailo Fedorov, the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, who tweeted: "@elonmusk, while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand."

Elon Musk replied "Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route." That's how you make a difference. Providing internet service to an entire country that's at war is paying your fair share.
