Jen Psaki's spin-filled op-ed

Predictably, Jen Psaki's op-ed is filled with pro-Biden administration spin. The White House Press Secretary didn't waste time in getting into the spin. For instance, she wrote "A year ago, few would have imagined that 2021 would be the greatest year of job growth in American history. That the unemployment rate would be at 3.9% now, down from 6% at the start of 2021 – the biggest one-year drop in history."

Actually, Trump administration economists expected higher job growth if Trump stayed in office. Further, the economy created more jobs in April and May of 2020 than in all of 2021. In April-May, 2020, the economy created 7,300,000 jobs. Less than 7,000,000 jobs were created in 2021. Then-President Trump called it a "rocket-ship recovery":

It isn't possible to honestly say that "few would have imagined that 2021 would be the greatest year of job growth in American history" when there was greater job growth in April-May of 2020 than in the entire year of 2021. That doesn't matter in Psaki-World, where narratives rule.

Then there's this:

It put shots in arms, funding an unprecedented vaccination effort that now has more than 70% of those 12 and older fully vaccinated, and vaccinations and boosters are free and widely available.

And it provided funding for schools to reopen, going from mass closures to more than 95% of schools open even as we fight through the omicron variant.

Dishonesty is repulsive. The Trump administration bought 800,000,000 doses of vaccines. They also purchased tons of ventilators, many of which are being sold to other countries. More than $130,000,000,000 was spent on schools in an attempt to open them. Despite all of that money, 5,000+ schools still aren't open. That's a terrible waste of money.

These bold actions by the president made America the global leader in our economic recovery from the pandemic. While other countries have seen recession, we have seen extremely high economic growth.
The US economy is slowing down, thanks in large part to high inflation and supply chain shortages. When Democrats insisted on super-sizing unemployment, people had an incentive not to work. The US economy is still resilient but it can't stay strong forever. At some point, the Democrats' policies will hurt the economy to the point of putting it in a recession.
