Exposing Nancy Pelosi's anti-investigation January 6 Committee

Nancy Pelosi's select committee allegedly looking into the riot of Jan. 6, 2021 is long on style points and preening but short on investigating. That's why it should be given the name of 'The Select Committee About Nothing.' That's apparently this committee's specialty.

Kim Strassel's latest Potomac Watch column highlights this committee's penchant for not investigating the important parts of the riot. For instance, how many CNN or MSNBC viewers know that "former Capitol Police chief Steven Sund has attested that before Jan. 6 he approached House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving" about getting National Guard troop assistance for Jan. 6? How many people know that Sund and Irving report directly to Speaker Pelosi? How many people know that the Speaker is atop the chain of command for Capitol security?

I'm betting that few people will find out that then-President Trump offered to dispatch up to 20,000 National Guard Troops to the Capitol for Jan. 6. Then-President Trump didn't make that offer once or twice. There's documentation that he made that offer 6 times. In light of this information, I'm betting heavily that Pelosi's committee doesn't want people to see this interview:

Republicans are conducting their own investigation. Democrat are obstructing that investigation. Here's how they're accomplishing that:
Mr. Sund says that during the violence he again urgently asked for troops, but help was delayed because Mr. Irving said he “needed to run it up the chain of command.” Mr. Irving disputes this version of events. One obvious way to settle it is to examine documents, and the Capitol Police have produced theirs to Republicans.

But Mr. Davis reports the House sergeant-at-arms and chief administrative officer—both of whom report to Mrs. Pelosi—have steadfastly refused to produce anything to him. Likewise, the House general counsel has stonewalled requests.

That sounds like a rigged investigation. Why should we think of the Pelosi committee as legitimate? The 9/11 Commission, chaired by Thomas Kean and vice-chaired by Lee Hamilton is the gold standard for investigative committees/commissions. Their legacy is that they didn't let partisanship stand in the way of them producing a substantive report filled with intel failures and legislative recommendations, most of which were implemented.

By comparison, the Pelosi Committee plans on putting out a preliminary report this summer and a final report in October. If that doesn't sound like a partisan hatchet job that's intentionally timed for maximum effect to readers, then readers should investigate Speaker Pelosi. This is exactly what should be expected from her. She's a nastier partisan than Adam Schiff.

Ms. Pelosi didn't sign off on Jim Jordan and Jim Banks being involved with the faux investigation. She didn't want a real investigation. That's because that investigation would ask why security collapsed virtually immediately. That investigation would've asked why Capitol Hill Police waved people into the building. Ms. Pelosi doesn't have straight answers for those questions. That's why she didn't permit a legitimate investigation.
