CTU = Chicago's Terrorist Union?
This first started in Loudoun County, VA, over the issue of opening schools to in-person learning. While that's where it started, the movement quickly morphed to include protests against teaching CRT and trans rights.
Let's not forget that this Chicago teaching strike isn't just about the CTU. It's about Lori Lightfoot, too. Until this week, Lightfoot has been on the wrong side of almost every crisis in Chicago. Remember that she criticized stores for not doing more to protect their stores during Chicago's smash-and-grab robbery spree.
Parents and employers are getting tired of constantly being jerked around by the teachers unions. This is directly affecting their lives. But I digress. Check this out:
Lightfoot blamed retailers for not making safety a priority.EARTH TO LIGHTFOOT: It's the mayor's job to protect the people. That's why they created police departments. Most cities have them, though most are understaffed, discouraged or both.I admit that it isn't fair to call teachers terrorists. Still, it isn't difficult to picture the CTU as hostage-takers. The CTU insists (publicly at least) that schools aren't safe. Meanwhile, public health officials have cited public health data showing schools as being safe. Since there aren't many medical doctors serving as teachers, I won't trust the CTU. I'm fussy that way."We also got to push retailers. Some of the retailers downtown and [on] Michigan Avenue, I will tell you, I'm disappointed that they are not doing more to take safety and make it a priority. For example, we still have retailers that won't institute plans like having security officers in their stores, making sure that they've got cameras that are actually operational, locking up their merchandise at night. Chaining high-end bags, these purses seem to be something that is attracting a lot of attention on these organized retail theft units," Lightfoot said.
