Joe Biden is turning Texas red
That's similar to the Iron Range mayors in Minnesota endorsing then-President Trump in 2020. Prior to last year, the Iron Range was DFL-dominated. Ms. Zito also wrote "Last week, a Dallas Morning News/University of Texas, Tyler, poll showed that Biden’s approval rating with Hispanics in Texas is 19 points underwater, with only 35% approving of the job he is doing and a whopping 54% disapproving. There may be a realignment in the works."
In short, while white liberals in Washington think that using words like "Latinx" matters to the Hispanic community or connects them with its values, they are ignoring a crisis that deeply affects middle-class Hispanic families. They justifiably worry about their safety and their ability to pursue prosperity. The Democrats' oblivious lack of concern for their real-world concerns is already backfiring.
Maybe if one of them, any of them, spent a few days living in a border town, the party would understand just how dire and dangerous life there has become.
This isn't a partisan matter. It's a bread-and-butter issue. If people aren't safe, they'll abandon the party that made life dangerous. In Texas border towns, that's Democrats, starting with Joe Biden. Jen Psaki can spin this whichever way she wants but that won't change Texas reality. This won't help Democrats:
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas admitted Sunday that the vast majority of Haitian migrants who crossed the southern U.S. border in recent weeks have already been released into the United States, and it is possible that more will follow them. This is the video of that interview:Early in the interview, Mayorkas said that those who hadn't been returned to Haiti are monitored. My question for Secretary Mayorkas is simple: with DHS personnel getting stretched this thin, who's monitoring these illegal aliens? Given this administration's lengthy list of broken promises, why should the people have any confidence that they'll be properly monitored? So far, approximately 12,400 of the people are having their cases heard by immigration judges, while another 5,000 are being processed by the Department of Homeland Security. Currently, only 3,000 are in detention.
Joe Biden isn't stopping illegal immigrants from entering the United States. A high percentage of those illegal immigrants have COVID-19. (Dr. Marc Siegel of NYU Langone Hospital thinks that up to 40% of immigrants have COVID.) That makes illegal immigration a legitimate superspreader event. Texas cities like Del Rio, Laredo and McAllen have had their public health and schools decimated by illegal immigration. Last week, Laredo, TX, allegedly had 10,000 cases, with 233 people dying from COVID. That's a public health crisis.
