John Thompson, domestic abuser?
This time, Democrats are calling on Thompson to resign immediately because the DFL allegedly just learned that he's allegedly abused his girlfriend. Alpha News's Kyle Hooten smells a rat:
From Scott Johnson's Powerline post:MN Rep. John Thompson has TWICE been accused of demanding women perform sex acts on him in front of children during arguments with women
— Kyle Hooten (@KyleHooten2) July 17, 2021
His history of alleged domestic abuse has been public for a decade, but MN Dems just now dropped their endorsementshttps://t.co/V17v1v1dXd
At Alpha News Kyle Hooten comments: "It is unclear why no such request was made earlier, as Thompson’s pattern of alleged physical abuse has been public knowledge since he entered politics."
The DFL is stuck with Thompson. Minnesota Republicans will tie Thompson around the neck of every vulnerable DFL representative in 2022. I suspect, though, that they'll tie Rep. Thompson's Hugo diatribe around the DFL's neck, not the alleged sexual misconduct from 15+ years ago.
The truth is that the DFL should've recognized that Thompson had a hardware store-sized collection of screws loose after Thompson's profanity-filled Hugo diatribe. Check out what Gov. Walz said of that incident:
Gov. Walz and the DFL didn't drop their endorsement of Thompson when it was obvious that he was a hot head. Gov. Walz and the DFL didn't drop their endorsement of Thompson when it was obvious that he was a racist. Gov. Walz and the DFL didn't drop their endorsement of Thompson when it was obvious that Thompson didn't hesitate in intimidating the DFL's political adversaries. Gov. Walz and the DFL didn't drop their endorsement of Thompson when it was obvious until Thompson became a political liability. Check out Gov. Walz's faux outrage tweet calling for Thompson's immediate resignation:
In his tweet, Gov. Walz said "Minnesotans deserve representatives who uphold the highest moral character and share our values." When Thompson called GOP Rep. Eric Lucero a racist, did Rep. Thompson display the highest moral character? Did Thompson share the DFL's values? When Thompson led a rally against Bob Kroll, did Rep. Thompson display the highest moral character? Did Thompson share the DFL's values then?Minnesotans deserve representatives who uphold the highest moral character and share our values. Following the deeply disturbing reports of domestic violence against multiple women, Rep. Thompson can no longer effectively be that leader and should immediately resign.
