James Craig running to unseat Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan

Last night, James Craig, the retired police chief of Detroit, announced on the Tucker Carlson Show that he's running to unseat Democrat Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan. It's pretty clear that he's a serious threat to Gov. Whitmer. Chief Craig is the personification of a leader. Gov. Whitmer is the personification of an authoritarian. There's a difference.

There are performance differences that Chief Craig can highlight, too. For instance, he can highlight the fact that Detroit didn't burn while Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, Kenosha and New York were looted and violent crime skyrocketed.

Meanwhile, Gov. Whitmer placed her state on lockdown, then immediately flew to Florida's open beaches. The Democrats' rules-for-thee-but-not-for-me habit showed off Gov. Whitmer's elitism. It isn't a good look for her. It isn't a good look on any politician.

Here's Chief Craig's confident-sounding announcement:

"I can't help but think about the small businesses who are suffering through the pandemic -- and now we want to give … handouts and businesses cant even hire employees," Craig lamented. "I've got to tell you – I'm running, because when I look at politicians across the country – when I look at Governor Whitmer, she follows different rules – she just does."
"This is about leadership – you can't take that away from me – I'm a fighter."

Most importantly, Chief Craig is a no-nonsense leader who makes the right decisions. That's precisely what Michigan needs after Gov. Whitmer's term in office.
