Hispanics are ditching the Dems

It isn't a matter of if Hispanics are leaving the Democrats. It's more a matter of how big the shift is when it happens. This article should frighten Democrats. Mostly, it's an interview.

The first eye-popping exchange happened when Lulu Garcia-Navarro asks David Shor "So after the election, there was this narrative that the Latino vote swung right because of Cubans in Florida or Mexican Americans in South Texas. But what did you find when you looked precinct by precinct?"

Shor replied, saying "Precinct by precinct, you know, what we really found was that even though there were particularly market shifts, you know - in South Texas, there were 30-point swings in many counties. You know, there were counties that had voted for Democrats solidly in the 70 to 80% percent range since the 1890s that Trump either won or came very close to winning. And in South Florida generally and Florida in general, there was something like a 13 or 14% swing. That said, basically everywhere where there were large concentrations of Hispanic voters, there were large swings in the 6 to 9% range."These are significant swings in support for the GOP. Shor continued with this:

This was a national trend that happened basically everywhere. And, you know, one of the biggest predictors of switching from voting for Clinton in 2016 to voting in Trump were attitudes toward crime, attitudes toward policing. You know, I think that that's a microcosm for ... a larger story.

Democrats shouldn't just worry about losing Hispanic voters. Democrats should worry about why they're losing them. The Democrats' troubles with Hispanics come from their inability (unwillingness?) to deal with crime. These large Hispanic support swings in the GOP's favor will help them pick up extra seats in Texas and Florida and perhaps Arizona. Picking up extra House seats in those states has the potential to change this from the GOP retaking the majority in 2022 to a full-blown red wave in 2022. It took the Democrat administration 4 days to call the Communist regime in Cuba a communist regime. Check out how tortured Jen Psaki looked saying communist: It just took her 4 days to talk about communism. Ms. Psaki looked as allergic to the word communism as vampires are to holy water or wooden stakes.
