Will 2022 "be a cultural war election"?

According to analysis provided in Salena Zito's latest article, 2022 will "be a cultural war election." Ms. Zito quoted Paul Sracic, political science professor at Youngstown State University, as saying "I don’t think it’s going to be an economy election, it’s not going to be a pandemic election."

The chaotic border and inflation will still matter but people are still most passionate about critical race theory, in-person learning and out-of-control crime. Those issues hit closest to home. Steve McMahon is a DC-based Democrat consultant.

In his opinion, JD Vance, who authored the book Hillbilly Elegy, has the opportunity to convincingly win the soon-to-be-open Ohio Senate seat if he runs. Regrettably, McMahon thinks that Democrat elites won't accept him:
"Vance demonstrated something in his uniquely American success story. [He] showed it’s still possible in America to pull yourself up from adversity and be successful," McMahon said. "But once you go from being an apolitical American success story to a politician, you immediately inherit all of the enemies of your enemies. It’s the partisan environment we’ve created."

This interview with Tucker Carlson shows JD Vance's appeal:

Clearly, Vance doesnt see himself as a Democrat. His contempt isn't just schtick. It's what he really thinks. Democrats think that government should tell businesses what businesses should pay their employees. Tim Ryan, the Democrat already in the race, thinks that government hasn't intruded into businesses' lives enough.

Finally, these days, Democrats are mostly socialists. Ryan certainly fits that description. Ryan introduced the Charter School Accountability Act. He definitely isn't a fan of school choice or charter schools. At a time when teacher unions run the Democrats, Ryan falls right in line with the Democrats' Establishment.
