Tim Walz's dictatorial authority continues

Apparently, Tim Walz's dictatorial powers will be extended a 15th time. Though the emergency part of the pandemic is behind us, the DFL majority in the House keeps voting to extend Walz's Peacetime Emergency Powers. What are they afraid of?

Is the DFL afraid that they'll have to negotiate in good faith with Republicans? Does Gov. Walz hate democracy that much? Is the DFL that much in love with a governing system that's totally devoid of checks and balances? Is Tim Walz that much in love with single-branch government?

The Minnesota Constitution established 3 co-equal branches of government. The legislative and executive branches are considered the political branches of government. They're expected to work together. The people who wrote the federal constition wanted this type of government because they hated the thought of efficient government.

The British monarchy was efficient in that the subjects were expected to do whatever the king told them to do. At the time of its Declaration of Independence, the king had become a tyrant. There wasn't a check on his authority.

Tim Walz isn't a King George III type of tyrant but he's a tyrant nonetheless. Jeff Howe represents a district just west of where I'm typing this. He was part of a press conference explaining the impasse that Gov. Walz created. Check out that news conference:

It's clear that Gov. Walz isn't interested in having a co-equal governing partner. He's interested in having a junior partner governing partner, one that he talks down to. That isn't democracy at its finest. That's bare-minimum democracy.

It's time for Minnesota to start acting like a democracy again. Further, it's time for the DFL to stop acting like Nicholas Maduro's enablers. Finally, it's time for Tim Walz to stop enjoying acting like a third-world despot.
