Kamala Harris's invitation
In the invitation, Cuellar writes "I encourage you to join me and other Members of Congress, while we visit with the people on the ground who deal with these issues every day. I believe it is critical that you meet with local stakeholders and residents, consider their concerns, and use their lived experiences to implement more effective policies." He continues, writing "The rapid rise in the number of migrants arriving at our Southern Border has placed severe burdens on our communities. As the U.S. emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, South Texans continue to struggle economically, due to outdated commercial travel restriction. The situation on the border will only worsen, as more migrants are expected to arrive." Here's the full letter:
Since I started this post, I watched an interview by Harris Faulkner that's thrown cold water on my opinion of Rep. Cuellar. During the interview, he said that President Trump's wall was "a 14th Century solution to a 21st Century problem." Does this look like a 14th Century structure? Cuellar likes talking about Harris talking with local sheriffs, mayors, towns people and law enforcement. If he spoke with border patrol, which is what Trump did, he'd know that the Border Patrol loves Trump's wall. Support from the people who patrol our borders is virtually unanimous. It's time Cuellar practiced what he's preaching.
