'Experts' setting Middle East back

Now that the adults (that's said with sarcasm) are back in control of the Middle East peace process, the Middle East has returned to its traditional status. That means Israel is ablaze again. It turns out that the experts aren't that bright.

That doesn't mean the foreign policy intelligentsia will admit that the Trump administration got it right when they put Jared Kushner in charge of charting a new path to peace. There's a better chance that I'll get hit by lightning while holding 2 winning lottery tickets. In fact, Joe Biden is claiming credit for the cease-fire negotiated by the Egyptians:

Biden said during a joint press conference at the White House with South Korean President Moon Jae-in that he spent “a lot of time” on the phone with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The White House has disclosed only one call between Biden and Sisi, which happened hours before the cease-fire was adopted by both sides, ending 11 days of fighting between Hamas-governed Gaza and Israel.

Still, Biden told reporters his own humility was key to the deal.
The Middle East was ablaze for 11 days because of Joe Biden. Without him releasing $235,000,000 in aid to the Palestinians, Hamas wouldn't have had the money to buy the rockets and missiles they shot into Israel.

This didn't happen because of Biden's negotiations. The cease-fire happened because the IDF virtually eliminated Hamas's weapons stockpile. The cease-fire happened because Egyptian President el-Sisi told Hamas that they wouldn't get help from the outside.

It isn't surprising that Biden would want credit for negotiating the cease-fire. It isn't like he's had a lengthy string of victories since inauguration. Last month's jobs report wasn't good news. The border has been a disaster. Inflation is eating people's paychecks far too quickly.

Thank God the experts are back in charge. Otherwise, I'd be worried.
