An open letter to President Trump
To: President Trump
From: Gary Gross, proud Trump supporter
Subject: Midterm strategy
With the midterms fast approaching, Mr. President, it's time to figure out what's best to help Republicans take back Capitol Hill. Starting this summer with a new set of rallies in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Ohio, it's time to position Republicans for retaking the House and Senate majorities.
Mr. President, it's time to be a team player. That starts with limiting the times you mention the 2020 election fiasco. Elections are about the future. This election especially is about restoring this nation to the right path for a decade or more. Retaking the House is virtually guaranteed. That isn't good enough since it's important to maximize this election victory. Let me outline several things that will help GOP candidates, highlight Joe Biden's failures and remind people of your predictions.
- Highlight the fact that you predicted the southern border crisis. Use the Jumbotron to replay the speeches where you made those predictions. Don't hesitate to play Secretary Mayorkas' testimony that the border is closed on one screen while the split screen's other half shows Venezuelans coming across the Rio Grande.
- Highlight the fact that you predicted this economic trainwreck. I'd especially highlight the out-of-control inflation, high heating bills and high gas prices. Highlight the fact that gas prices were $2.379 a gallon on Inauguration Day and that they're now $3.028 a gallon.
- Highlight your entire economic record, which is still amazing., especially rising wages and record unemployment rates for minorities.
- Highlight the Republicans' work on police reform and prison sentence reform.
- Drive home the point that Republicans will fight for school choice and against AFT and rogue school boards.
- Explain why you outlawed Critical Race Theory classes for government workers. Explain that it pits one group of Americans against another.
- Emphasize the fact that Republicans want to return to energy independence. Let people know that climate change exists but that it isn't a crisis or existential threat.
